How VA massage care works.
VA appointments are scheduled by phone, not online. Three simple steps.
Ask your VA care team
Request a Community Care referral for massage therapy.
We receive your referral
The VA sends it to us. You can also send the request form below so we expect it.
We call you to schedule
Your first appointment is booked by phone once the referral arrives.
Already a VA client? For another visit, a reschedule or any question, call (910) 514-6251. VA appointments are not booked online, so we can keep your referral on track.
Understanding VA Community Care.
Care outside VA facilities when the VA cannot provide what you need. It requires a referral.
- Must be approved before scheduling
- Requested through your VA provider or care team
- Used for services like massage therapy
What to say to the VA: “I'd like to request Community Care authorization for massage therapy for pain management and recovery.”
Does my disability rating qualify me?
Authorization is based on clinical need, not a specific disability percentage.
- Chronic back, neck or shoulder pain
- Service-related musculoskeletal injuries
- Joint stiffness or limited mobility
- Muscle tension associated with PTSD
Remember: only your VA Primary Care Provider or care team makes the final determination.
